Exactly... so much for people trying to save money by baking their own birthday cakes or little treats for kids: maybe it would be a generation of kids without chocolate chip cookies...

Eating unhealthy foods is not just a "poor person" problem. But... how about making protein and healthier choices more affordable and accessible?

Yes, America has a lot of unhealthy food products. At the same time, that's a lot of what's affordable or available... especially if people don't have access to easy access to stoves, refrigerators, which... not everyone does. Or they live in food deserts where it's harder to get fresh produce...

No candy canes for Xmas, just lumps of coal. Yes, I'm being facetious; it helps with the anger.
So... he wants to ban carbonated drinks, especially those that have sugar, and foods that list sugar (or equivalents) as the first ingredient. They can't sweeten their yams? Add sugar to coffee...

Why should the Trump Admin want the courts to have a say if the Executive branch is NOT faithfully taking care of the spending choices Congress has made?
Why would the Trump Admin want the courts to demand that the Admin follow the Constitution?

The Trump Admin says the only way this should be resolved is for Congress to reopen government. Of course they say it... they want hungry Americans to serve as hostages to their policy demands..and their willingness to starve people below the poverty line says a lot on how much they care about them

Maybe this part of the CR should be clearly labeled as "Waste, Fraud, and Abuse," a phrase DOGE and MAGA seemed to love.
Most of the public isn't in favor of Trump's >$200M lawsuit to the DOJ. Will they be in favor of GOP senators adopting a similar strategy to enrich themselves and reelect them?

There's so much wrong with Trump's reasoning on tariffs... the country needs to subsidize this because the venture is "too big to fail" (national security) or lack of infrastructure ("too messy to make restitution")
And if SCOTUS goes for the "too messy" argument, then they're being willfully blind

I know I've commented similarly to other posts, but Trump's reasoning is bad. The tariffs that he's collected may be sunk costs.
But despite claims that the money has been invested, he has yet to show the trail of expenditures, that Congress would have authorized if they did their jobs.

Even if they find Trump can't pay it back, he shouldn't get another penny in tariffs. We shouldn't keep financing him in the hope, like a gambler, he can "win" it back.
If there are investments, then they should be liquidated or if they return any yields, the money should go back to the people.

There are parts to the reasoning that insult people's intelligence although SCOTUS may want to be conned.
Parts of it remind of a gambler's unwillingness to stop until they win back what they "lost", or in Trump's world, "invested."
Maybe restitution can never be made, but STOP the tariffs.

It's the reasoning of a con job: Trump is doing the country a favor (supposed investments + national security) through an unlawful practice and he can't stop because he can't make restitution. His whole scheme (Ponzi-ish?Pyramid-ish?) depends on this continued "investment".

I've always thought Republicans believe in getting paid for their work. Look at how the Trump Admin is enriching themselves.
This isn't about patriotism, although Duffy may believe that it is about loyalty to Trump and his policies.
What I want to know is how to shame Duffy with his attitude.

And they'll be told that this bailout isn't because of bad policy... no, it's an example of the President's generosity and how his good will matters.
When it's more a matter of subsidizing parasitic, corrupt practices that would steal their very pride and drive them into bankruptcies.

I'm waiting (ok hoping) for MAGA to realize the awfulness of having to suck up to Trump...
For all the people who will need to be bailed out for disastrous tariff policies
- farmers
- businesses
- ranchers
all those people who think they're successful bootstrappers, who will have to beg for help

I admit, I loved the booing... I thought
1) 1st amendment expression
2) Trump claims he wasn't on the ballot. I thought the boos said otherwise that was more visceral than a bunch of numbers.

While we're at it,
- include corporate fraudsters who bilked millions if not billions
- show the amounts
- can say if it includes life savings (especially of retirees)
and let people see how that racks up with plain burglary.

When Trump goes on about needing to clamp down on crime... especially with National Guard.
I am wishing for a poster or meme that shows key people he has pardoned or released
- (including the triple murderer Dahud Hanid Ortiz)
- sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell
and friendship
- example: Epstein

(Unelected Miller, Vought and Bannon wouldn't have someone else to latch onto)
So yeah, I think MAGA is definitely thinking they may need to seize power and are preparing now.
It also means we need to
- keep expanding the non-violent protests (>= 3.5% (12M))
- win elections at every level
