Still traveling & dreaming
It wasn't a great format really, but a lot of quiz shows back then had conveyor belts of almost anonymous contestants and interchangeable hosts (eg Criss Cross Quiz). The UK version lasted rather longer than the American one.

It was an adaptation of an American show which actually did have a "dancing decimal point" machine. 3 contestants, each buzzing in to answer a question which had a prize associated with it or chance their luck on the machine which started on the prize value. The American version was fixed though.

I got the same message as well.

Singles being half returns will help some.

Seems on the day Advances are going to be abolished for journeys across Greater Manchester from 7 December as well as all operator specific tickets. So a lot but not all of this will go away but the devil will be in the details for the fares.

The same position was taken when Disney threatened to sue the BBC over Jackanory adapting the book Mary Poppins in the mid 1960s. Indeed they adapted one of the sequels in response.

Offering Advances for 10 minute long journeys on a frequent route is a complexity too far really. Recipe too for people getting on the "wrong" service.

In Britain Shredded Wheat actually is a Nestlé product. She would be kind of eating her own stuff.

Both the secondary schools near me favour admissions from a network of primaries (mostly C of E) in their own trust. One non-denomination primary near me is in neither of these two so people struggle to get the secondary they want over people living in villages miles away.

Cancelled "to create space for new shows". After 8 episodes no longer new. Was a bit of a fashion around then though. ITVs Home Fires made it to two series but was cancelled in 2016 ending on a cliffhanger as "the ITV commissioning team continues to refresh the channel's drama portfolio".

Bannister was clearly way too old for the store "junior" position but it was conceived as the lead role in the show surrounded by oddball characters. Just didn't work out that way past the pilot.

Kensitas pre war were sold in packets of "four and twenty". The extra four were in a small packet of their own which you could detach and give to a friend. So the marketing went anyway.

Players No 6 were short cigarettes by modern standards, the same length as Woodbines but aimed at young people. Embassy was the quick replacement for Strand after the infamous advertising campaign disaster.

I dunno there was a bit of variation on price mainly from how much tobacco there was in them. Plus of course how many coupons you might get.

It took until December 1976 for BBC East Midlands contributions to be in colour. I think Bangor may have been the last BBC outpost to be converted.

Having said that though it was recertified to a 15 for cinema & home around 2001. (Previously X & 18 respectively.)

BBFC content description has a degree of "strongness": "There is a long sex scene between a husband and wife, which shows them in various sexual positions. There are a few shots showing thrusting, as well as sight of the naked couple embracing and being physically close."

BBFC has it as a 15 for its 2012 release & its original certificate was AA. Something extra here?

Some in Equity had the idea in the late 50s that video taping would inevitably lead to broadcasters stockpiling programmes then repeating the death out of them for years not making anything new putting actors out of work. Maybe they were thinking of Watch with Mother.

The real reason Mary Poppins was uprated by the BBFC to a PG.

Multi member council ward. You have as many X's as there are councillors to elect. On my town council I have 7 to put in.
