The boys went out early this morning for another haul of scallops ahead of the storm and I am tr to practice not worrying

Happy first day of scallop fishing to all those who celebrate!

Tiny Chiwa is feeling better, and her hair is even starting to grow back. It’s been an exhausting few months of pills and shampoo and new allergy free food. Wife deserves a medal for all the extra grooming work

Heads up. It’s early holiday travel season and some of you need to be reminded:
It is not only dangerous to pass a school bus, it is illegal. In some states, even when the lights aren’t flashing.
We have cameras, we have a direct line to local police, and we have fierce protective instincts for kids

This is me, trying to take pictures of the eagles. They’re feeding on a deer carcass by the shore. Adult and juvenile bald eagle, with ravens standing by waiting for their turn.
Kids on the bus tell me the eagle’s name is Arlo.
(Photo NOT taken while driving, I promise)

Looks like #bluesky over Canada way. Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!

I miss the mushroom dude. These are growing in my backyard. Edible; and the guide says they “neutralize the enzyme that renders alcohol nontoxic “ …so, Perfect for that workday potluck lunch?

This lovely was a six inch rooted cutting this time last year. I didn’t expect to love her so much, AND she smells wonderful.

The best time to plant a tree is ten years ago. The second best time is- oh DAMN those deer!

School starts in just a few days, and the nightmares have already begun. The Stephen King short story SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK is not a work of fiction, and none of our buses are ever completely empty.

I wish the weather widget had a tide table
I miss twitter and the way you could make a simple statement like that and Apple would pick it up and fix it

Surprise! Good job, heat and humidity 🥰

Nearly a month later, turns out #IwasWrong ! I’ve never seen yellow #roses with so much red foliage! Another week I reckon before I find out how much of a true yellow she is.

I’ve been told that I don’t have a great eye for photography… Beginning to suspect I just have a different eye that most. My iPhone blocks out the ultraviolet, and you can’t see the vivid swath of sweet peas at the beach’s edge.
June 22, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Bird photo I took so I could later identify which sparrow this is, bopping around on the beach.
I swear there was a sparrow here.

Not too confident that this little guy will bloom yellow as advertised. Big box nursery, I suspect mislabeling.

Every once in a while I get a hint that maybe they don’t all hate me

Not great art, but a color palette I am learning to appreciate. Go out And take a walk.

I was trying to exit out of a bunch of pop up ads and got whisked off to the site formerly known as twitter. Strange nostalgia brought me here- now how do I find all my old imaginary friends?
