Adding, yes I know some women do this too but I'm seeing a LOT of liberal men desperate for male approval for their "fairness" in discussing a man accused of sexual abuse by giving the benefit of the doubt to absurdity so men know they'd receive such charity too.

i wish i could convince myself to hope that maybe, just maybe, THIS time people will finally admit that sexual violence is *political violence*, is a political and social structure, is a technology of oppression, not a private, basically forgivable transgression. but i really can't fool myself

Based on my experiences as a Crisis Worker I don't think that it would be hyperbolic to say that one of the primary, if not the primary, underpinnings of power structures in our society is the enactment of consequence-free sexual abuse, often of minors.

it's because the notion that child sexual abuse is some uniquely taboo universally reviled übercrime for which men can easily get their lives/careers ruined is a myth and always has been. it's always been tacitly permitted, winked at, ignored, excused, and downplayed across all sectors of society.

She cares about her own affective feelings and the subjectivity of the abuser in his desire to abuse victims.
