The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

I like shopping local but the non-franchise businesses (near me) have weird, inconvenient, hours. If the neighborhood shops could at least coordinate on when they're open, that'd be great.

Instead of "Chat," I just saw somebody reach out to "Hive mind," and that feels much more ominous.

Set my office vultures up for the fall. They look like they're having a nice time. Shout out to my coworker who had no idea what Macbeth is and thought I created the rhyme myself

Idk who needs to hear this but the hiring process isn't improved with personality tests. Especially ~multiple.~

It's apparently impossible to delete my Lemon8 account without deleting my TikTok?

Don't make a Lemon8 account. You'll regret it.

Today, on Nextdoor, folks are IDing scat. Someone posted it asking about bears and now everyone is adding their expertise. They're leaning towards a buck that's been eating berries.

Social media sure is something.

The rate of sepsis in Houston surged 63% after Texas banned abortion.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where hospital leaders empowered doctors to intervene before patients’ conditions worsened, it rose 29%.

Nobody talks about how some of us, who lack self control, shouldn't learn how to cook.

I made the clear soup from hibachi. How much salt am I about to consume? Idk but it'll surpass those daily values.

Listen to the street medics for more detailed info but one thing I can tell you for sure for sure is that COLD WATER is your first response to tear gas, pepper spray, and other chemical agents / pepper balls etc. just blast your face (and your whole body ASAP) with as much cold water as you can

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

If you want to support your indie author friends, requesting their book from your public library is a great way to help them get reviews. Don't forget to tell the librarian if the author happens to live nearby! They often have a section for that.

After months of baseless claims about “extreme levels of fraud” within Social Security, Musk's DOGE has found only 2 likely fraudulent claims out of over 110,000—that makes it a rate of .0018%.

So DOGE found virtually no fraud and made an integral American system less efficient.
Surprise! DOGE’s Hunt for Social Security Fraud Ends in Total Bust
Elon Musk and his DOGE minions wrecked the Social Security Administration for no reason at all.
