dealing with ~150 highly intelligent+skilled well-networked devs who have organised & made a request is intimidating i'm sure

but given the declared purpose of the program was to put together the best and brightest to make change, shutting them down & the program down when they tried reads.. poorly

this is why the TGA stuff feels so egregious though.

Future Class members raised their concerns and feelings of exploitation for years. things continued to be bad & I argue became worse with the Old Spice deal

when we organised & made direct requests for change, the program was shuttered instead

and life is really nuanced. when you're in a position of power, it's hard to do "right" by everyone at all times when there are so many conflicting interests and only so much time+focus available

exploitation often isn't *intended*. and i genuinely give grace for that

most of us won't talk about this for fear of getting on industry blacklists and fear of reprisal

people with influence don't like the idea that people they exploit might talk about that exploitation & we know that threatens our livelihoods in an industry we already struggle to break into

i don't know, i could go on. just so many moments of, "fuck, this whole Future Class thing is VERY focused on appearance for The Game Awards and has no sense of meaningful, focused development around what a collaboration with TGA & FC alumni can do for this industry"
