They didn't have antibiotics for the bacterial pneumonia in 1918, so although it was very deadly, it's hard to compare the deaths to covid now, where we have all these medical advances, vaccines, etc, but still so many have died.

They are different viruses, but the 1918 flu had 3 or 4 waves. What number are we on for Covid now? The majority of deaths from the flu were also likely due to secondary bacterial pneumonia. But there absolutely were negative effects after the 1918 pandemic was over.

From what I understand, they are quite similar. Novavax might provide better long-term protection if you want to wait for it, but it hasn't been approved yet by Health Canada, so not sure when it will be available. It will be for 12yrs and up when approved. If I didn't have small kids, I might wait!
