I love the screams of the cicadas and the metaphors they present. Little critters underground burrowing, creating air in soil, feeding off dead bits of trees. Making everything work; they remind me of miners back home. Eventually they come to the surface to be fed on, destroying themselves.

This is the most colour I've used in my work for awhile. Argentina, especially the Andes, has done wonderful things for me and my practice.

I think it's going to be wonderful to see these new pieces beside the pieces I made this time last year...

Im going to be leading a recurring talk about interdisciplinary textiles and what that looks likes. If you wanna sign up there's a link below, but be sure to look at all the other wonderful meet ups as well. There's a huge variety of topics and I'm so excited!

Going to start migrating all my work over this way.

Im thinking alot about women in social movements, labour, textiles, and monuments. How do respect the memories and work of women like Eva Perón, Ella May Wiggins, Mother Jones.

Im you resident Appalachian academic, artist, storyteller, holler woman, making art about Mountain folklife. You'll find me reconciling the land-based practices I grew up with and the effects of extractive industries, exploring ideas of Appalachian identity, making art with Fungi.
