I can't help but wonder about the gender divide on this (Your comment, not the article ). I feel like there's a difference in the perceived danger of surveillance. I'm a data point of one, but I only knew guys who checked in _everywhere_. I rarely saw a woman as "the mayor" of anywhere.

The RFK Jr. version of health, where health creates health and healthy people don't get sick and the thing that keeps you healthy is /living the right way/ is very seductive to a lot of people. It also places the burden of illness back on the ill, which decreases the value of human life.

This is an interesting question. How do you fund the open web while not gatekeeping those with lower income, or inherently skewing towards a privileged few (assuming that a goal of the open web is also universal access)? Grants, unrestricted donations, voluntary subscriptions that subsidize others?
