Wow I really jumped ok this bandwagon and fell off. But being away was worth it.
January 2025 was all about the gym, work, community theatre, and meeting the man of my dreams.

And if he makes me regret saying that, I’ll burn this account. 😂

Having a hard day? Here is a pretty album of some southern B.C. mountains to soothe your soul.

Ewww. We have to put in five days of work this week… in a row? Inhumane.

It was more fun to work part time and make it into the gym more than never

A couple years ago I called my brother and convinced him and his gf (now his wife) to join me for a polar bear swim. Today marked year three. And these pics are from my second dip of the day. 😂 best brother ever

Tomorrow is not the day I restart running but it is the day I restart taking my gym bag to the office so I am actually in a position to run after work. (I’m recovering from a cold so I’ll just walk, quickly.)

Habit building is my favourite life hack and I can definitely do that while recuperating.

Spent part of this rainy day pushing paint across some wood. This is a small portion of a larger piece.

Two weeks ago, I foresaw that this last weekend I would be unable to meal prep or grocery shop for this week (travelling). So I proactively shopped & cooked for myself for this week & froze everything. Now I am eating that, & feeling both smug and smart. And a lil superior. Homemade beef stew FTW.

Spent the weekend in beautiful Victoria with my lifelong friend, and couldn’t be happier. This enormous tree at Butchart Gardens made me cry. I blame the saccharine music and the mood lighting. 10/10 recommend. Also check out the fairy canopy. It was magical. Opening night was perfection.

Spent some time deep breathing on the rainy deck of a B.C. Ferry this morning, on the way to see my best friend, to go see some live comedy in a seedy bar.

It’s cruel that I have to work for a living, when every day has the potential to be this wonderful.

When I’m not being a journalist I’m doing artsy stuff. Tomorrow night I host a monthly poetry meet up at the Sardis Library, from 6-7:30. It’s drop in and we have treats. You can read your work, chat about poetry, browse poetry books we’ve selected, and chill.
Would love to see some local poets!

Kicked off my Christmas movie season with a re-watch of Spirited, and now I want to stay up past bedtime and watch Scrooged, too. A Christmas Carol is my favourite book (I have my great grandmother copy from her childhood, too, as shown) and every version of it thrills me to no end. ❤️

Squeezing the last few moments out of an action-packed, two-week vacation. Walked in the mossy forest at Cultus this AM, and next up is an evening of creating a beef stew and hopefully some pumpkin pies! ❤️

For week 2 of my holidays … I’ll be knee deep in a publishing how-to, courtesy of the Federation of B.C. Writers’ Writing Intensive. Five days of virtual meetings, workshops and seminars on publishing in B.C.
But today? Chocolate and painting.
(This is just a first wash over natural grain)
