Apparently two weeks later the debate rages on, and what it comes down to for me is what the butter is for. Baking? Unsalted. Everything else? Salted.

Ugh. That is disappointing. I was a SA victim’s advocate/hotline support person 20 years ago and safety planning was a tool to help people feel more safe/control the things they could, but there was always a healthy dose of “you’re not responsible for other people’s behavior.”

Yep. But the reality is that those sorts of defensive strategies are useless when your rapist is someone you invited into your home believing you could trust them/because you are in a space where you should expect safety. Being trained in self defense isn’t that handy when your defenses are down.

It wasn’t any better in the mid to late 90s. All of the SA prevention revolves around having a buddy system at parties or walking around at night, not much of anything about sexual harassment or assault from acquaintances/partners/faculty or staff.

You’re blessed!

I could never manage to make them symmetrical. You’re much better than me!

I regret the times where my interest level was high but I was so caught up with my own anxieties and insecurities that I didn’t acknowledge my own feelings because I was trying to be cool or too afraid of vulnerability.

Not only am I not that chill, I also don’t want to date someone who is that chill. By all means, check your assumptions and fantasies and be present/realistic(I will do my best to do the same!), but please don’t try to be cool or act like you don’t care. Ambivalence/indifference aren’t good.

The filibuster that they don’t use except in the most performative way?

The Democratic leaders didn’t see Tuesday as a victory for Democrats, they saw it as a protest against the status quo, which they are solidly part of.

They’d rather align with fascists and oligarchs than the people they’re elected to represent.

Schumer didn’t consider Tuesday a victory if the message was “we want change.”

Very on brand for Democrats to take a defeat instead of a political victory.

Keep talking about class warfare, mainstream media!
