We all know, per Frank Lantz, that games are operas made out of bridges, but today I was chuffed to learn about some bridges made out of operas.

If you missed last week's panel discussion on NYC's indie game scene, the video is available on the Game Center's Twitch channel!

Happening tonight at the NYU Game Center! I'll be joining a panel of local community leaders and moderator @timrattray.bsky.social to chat about supporting NYC's indie game scene. We'll also be getting a peek at the trailer for Tim's upcoming docuseries!

Tickets are PWYW, with proceeds supporting the documentary and the orgs of the panelists taking part. I'll be there representing the NYC Indie Games Social, a monthly institution still going strong in our 11th year.

Hope you can come out and join us for what promises to be a great conversation!

…Well, yes, actually, but how did you…?

Trying out a neat little tool that rates your starting guess for Wordle. The definitions are a little weird.

It's my birthday! Feeling pretty celebratory. 🎂 🎉

The best present you could get me is yourself a copy of Rosewater: store.steampowered.com/app/1226670/...

If you're in a giving mood, maybe a nice review to help us get to 50? 🎁 ✨

Or even just share this post--that'd be a truly lovely gift. 💖

Our first batch of seedlings didn't make it (other than the beans), so I've taken possession of the planters and am trying again! Our bedroom is now looking like a solarpunk garden

We probably started too soon. Only a few days later and everything's sprouted and the beans are shooting up, but my landlord says she won't have the beds ready until the end of the month, and it's still too cold out...

Tomorrow is the first Wednesday of the month, which means it's time for the NYC Indie Games Social! Spring's almost here, so let's enjoy the warm(ing) weather by getting outside, hanging out, and meeting some new friends. Hope to see you there!

Fuming after paying $3.99 for a single bell pepper, my landlord asked if I wanted to help start a backyard vegetable garden…something I'd been daydreaming about asking *her* for ages. Today we got the seeds started!

Our daily tarot card draws for the past few days have been Judgment, Tower, Tower, Judgment, Judgment.

Universe, do you have something to say…?

I was enjoying this Aftermath interview with Fran Warner about what narrative designers actually do, then I got to the very end and it made me a little sad.

(It doesn’t have to be this way…you *could* have an editor!)

Delighted to get my box set of @jumpovertheage.com 's brilliant Heterotopias zine exploring game landscapes and architecture. The printing and binding is really stunning. A wonderful addition to my shelf of virtual world–themed crowdfunded books and box sets.

At our final stop, Tavern 29, we found a charming venue with a spacious heated rooftop biergarten and an accommodating manager. Even though the roof is normally closed until spring, they were willing to host and graciously offered to open it up for us in February.

Success! 🎉

A little down the way, we came upon the Bella Union. (Disappointingly, it turns out to share an owner with the Gem, so the coordinated names in this little slice of Deadwood are no coincidence.) Their rooftop was also closed. I inquired about group reservation logistics, but it didn't seem workable.

Next we stopped into the Gem Saloon. Sitting at the huge horseshoe bar, we realized this had been the erstwhile honky-tonk Rodeo Bar, where you could once kick up sawdust dancing to live rockabilly music and ride a mechanical bull (and I did!). Now it's more refined, with a light Old West theme.

First stop was Sundays Well, whose backyard seemed promising. But it was a below-freezing night in January, so no luck finding open outdoor areas. Worth keeping in mind, but we moved on.
