This situation is truly astonishing. A system that can be manipulated to allow reckless endangerment is fundamentally flawed. Although courts can intervene, their response is often slow, enforcement can falter, and irreversible damage may occur in the meantime.

This nonbinary biologist couldn't agree more! My top pet peeve is when people use "gender" instead of "sex" in scientific documents about non-human animals.
I’m like 99% sure that mice don’t even have genders.
