If it was something like “oh they fell into that pit and died” though I think there’s grounds to say they somehow crawled their way out

Well I guess it would depend on the circumstances, right? Hypothetically If your character failed all their death saves or was otherwise killed in front of the other characters that’s just dead, but as a DM I can’t see why there would be an issue using that character in other games.

I don’t get to play much and while I don’t think I’d love it, I do love it when I know death is on the line. Playing when you know characters can’t die is like playing poker with candy.

Hmm, as a DM I’ve always gone with “death is death” otherwise decisions feel less weighty, granted we don’t lose characters that often. Do you feel like it’s cheating at all to just have a “dead” character re-appear? (Not saying it is)
