Dearest - Jacquie Walters

Unreliable narrator, the only spooky part of this book is the extreme PPA and PPD.

The Church Beneath the Roots - Felix Blackwell

One of the best prequels ever!

Maggie's Grave - David Sodergren

Finished The White Lotus season 3 and while I love every season of that show, I'm left wondering how the Ratliffs will fare when they're back home. I like, really really want to see their reactions.

When someone you took multiple writing courses with in college, 10+ years ago, publishes their work... you buy it!

Not my cat, Orphan, cosplaying as Jesse Gemstone. An uncanny resemblance.

I was nursing Elliott and petting my playful cat when the cat bit and scratched me a little too hard. I said owie!! and whimpered. And suddenly Elliott looks at me, frowns, and goes "oooh" and omg is my 14 month old baby practicing empathy already?!

Twice now in the past month I've had face to face conversations with people who assumed my age and said, "Well, there's no way you're 30 yet, right? You're like, maybe 27?"
Thank you. No. But thank you.
They were very surprised when I told them they were about 10 years off.

I've never had any real type of anxiety before and now 3x in past 2 weeks I've experienced wild anxiety symptoms that have basically debilitated me in the moment. Over-stimulation, head spinning, eyes popping behind my lids, heavy chest. Focus and take deep breaths....

My 13 month old is progressing very quickly suddenly and I'm utterly astonished.

Alzheimer's and dementia are so hard and so heart breaking. I've been grieving a living person in my life for 2 years and yet it gets harder every week as they continue to decline and I continue to grieve. I'm shattered.

The Haar - David Sodergren @paperbacksandpugs.bsky.social

Scottish folk horror with heavy elements of macabre/gore. A sweet old love story at it's core that made my heart burst!

Watched the trailer for the movie Cuckoo last night, and it freaked me out. Hesitant to watch the actual movie now. When did I become so lame?

There was a Ms. Rachel skit asking how old are you and they went up to 10. I said I highly doubt 10 year olds are watching Ms Rachel. Then I laughed, because I'm a 36 year old watching Ms. Rachel. 😌

🕯🔦 At least my Kindle is charged. I made some great progress on my book club book "The Haar" by David Sodergren tonight.

Nothing like a neighborhood blackout from a drunk driver hitting a power pole, starting a fire, and fleeing the scene to make you realize how ill-prepared you are for power outages.🕯🔦

With the continued threat to the Josephine County Library this is a great and important article outlining our history, from tax levies, to county commissioners, to shut downs, to the wonderful volunteers (hey, I'm one of those) and donors!

Remember your roots. Strong or weak, they are the history that grounds us, steadies us, and defines who we are today. Another reason to remember your roots? Some of them...

This January has been a crazy year. Furthermore, this has been the longest 8 days I've ever experienced.

Finally watching Smile (2022) and it's exactly what I expected. Nevertheless, glad I chose to watch it during the day.

If you're feeling down for any reason this evening, make yourself a hot cuppa loose leaf tea. It'll make you feel a little better. Even if just for awhile.

I burned bridges last year on accident. My pride, politics, opinions, & tongue got the best of me. I miss being part of my brothers lives. I'm sad I can't celebrate their successes with them. But I also refuse to apologize... so I have to live with this. It's my loss. My tragedy. I wish them well.
