Screenshot from threads of a thread by flutesandpoems Did I ever tell you all how Spouse and I picked our first dance for our wedding by making a bracket of 16 songs we both loved and then having a "battle" each night by dancing to two songs to determine which one advanced to the next round of the bracket? 1/2 This is something music taught me, by the way that you had better figure out how to make the process as meaningful and fun as the product. I spend 95% of my musical life practicing, and only 5% of it performing, so it would be silly if I only saw practicing as a means to a performance end. The process is the thing! So we were really determined that our wedding planning process would be as fun and silly and connective and significant as we hoped our wedding day would be (and was). 2/2

Australia's humpback whales are doing so well that their population is expected to reach carrying capacity and plateau in the near future--they have not just reached but exceeded pre-whaling numbers. For this to happen with such a long-lived, slow-reproducing species is near miraculous. #goodnews
These whales were hunted to 150 individuals. Now there are 50,000 of them
Once hunted almost to extinction, the population of humpback whales currently migrating down Australia's east coast has bounced back and is now greater than before whaling.
