Watching @jay.bsky.team engage with people on the TL is fun. I'm not sure I've ever seen a CEO engage at this level and felt this "normal" amongst their users.

Interesting ideas
I am also eager to see a marketplace for recommendation algorithms, moderation services, etc.

Facts!

This was the rationale of long-lived teams back when agile meant something.

The recipe so simple that people doubt it: put smart people together, treat them equitably, point them to a goal, make it safe to learn & fail; keep your word…and get TF out of their way. ✅

Yay 🥳, just got the first contribution to the go-bluesky repo, courtesy of @bradfitz.com!

To play nice with outside contributors, I've changed the copyright text to give ownership to all authors. 🤓

This whole social status around getting early bsky.social handles is bizarre to me, when you could have your most recognizable identity on the internet (theonion.com), redirect people to your site, and verify your account
That, and they may want to reserve their .bsky.social name, since they can always add theonion.com later, but if someone else has theonion.bsky.social, harder to get it (back).

My wife and kids never saw the moon through a telescope before. We looked at it as a family the other night from our deck and I just kept saying “told you so”. She previously thought I was being dramatic at how crazy/cool it looks when magnified. But now they continue to be just as amazed as I am 😁
Every once in a while I look up and see the Moon and have a momentary freak out because there is a GIANT ROCK just HANGING OUT IN THE SKY

You needed blocks. We cleared our calendars to finish building out blocks.

Blocking has shipped to Bluesky web app users and will be available in mobile shortly (version 1.25, when it passes App/Play Store review — hopefully tomorrow morning).

You can access this feature now at staging.bsky.app.

I want to state the obvious and say that part of the allure of this app for me and likely others is that we get to see bluesky devs improve the app in real time while sharing code and thoughts during the journey. Living up to the idea of an opensource network. Respect to @jay.bsky.team and team!

Black Twitter is the reason this app blew up and Aveta deserves so much credit for all the community building she’s done on here! The big posters are fun but if you’re writing about this app your story can’t just be about them
When a reporter actually cares to respect Black people's impact like we did on TikTok as we do everywhere, not gonna bother reading more articles lol

I saw lots of questions about if @bsky.app is part of the Fediverse web3, or uses blockchain

The answer is no, but here’s a video explaining why

https://youtu.be/qI7LR6FSLrI
Is Bluesky part of fediverse, web3, or blockchain?
The answer is no, but a little bit yes I don't have any invites! Join the Bluesky waiting list here - https://bsky.app/ Learn more about the AT protocol here - https://atproto.com/ 0:00 - What is Bluesky 0:47 - Is it part of the Fediverse? 1:55 - Is it web3? 3:21 - Does it use blockchain? #bluesky #fediverse #blockchain

Pretty impressive tbh. Such a small team of devs for a project like this. I can only imagine.. I thought it was tough being on possibly one of the smallest teams building/maintaining a public cloud provider’s managed K8s product AND container registry. That probably pales in comparison to this team.
It cannot be easy right now for the team with this sort of user growth. When I joined, there were fewer communities trying to play nice with each other (TPOT, Japanese, Brazilian). Literally disconnected from clashing by language.

Remember to recognize the Bluesky team as humans doing their best.

It’s honestly completely insane that they are supporting this flood of users with so few people.
