When the Alice Goffman kerfluffle happened, no one mentioned the scene in her book where a guy had a neighbor/nurse remove a bullet so he didn’t have to go to the hospital & risk running into cops. No one realized why that didn’t quite make sense, & how removing it likely was more dangerous than not

roberts’s constitution allows for racial discrimination as long as you don’t say you’re racially discriminating, because in a classic bit of racecraft, roberts’s constitution forbids acknowledging race but has no particular issue with racism.
