I'm not sure it's in the self interest of America's tech bro billionaires to suggest that we bring back public executions to punish the most destructive people in our society.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

On Dec. 6, 1917 at 8:45 a.m., the Imo and Mont-Blanc (which was packed with explosives) collided in Halifax Harbour.
At 9:05 a.m., the Mont-Blanc exploded. The 2.9 kiloton blast levelled most of Halifax, killed 1,700 and injured 9,000.
This is the story.

A gift for you: If you're a parent who is regretting letting the Elf on a Shelf into your home, here is a duty reassignment order you can show to your kids that the Elf was needed elsewhere. Printable png 8X10 300dpi so it can fit well on an A4 for non North American printers.

Remember how I've said AI is an attack? This is what I meant
Two independent studies found that AI chatbots were better at persuading voters than political ads. The most persuasive bots also lied the most. This is something that humans working in psyops have known for decades. AI is psyops at scale. www.technologyreview.com/2025/12/04/1...

The Net-Zero Advisory Board, made up of climate experts who've been selected to advise the government on climate targets, had 12 members a year ago.

After a string of resignations over consistently being ignored by the Carney government, it currently has 4 members.

Cannot stress how bad shit is about to get if you want to build any kind of PC.
Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

Last year I wrote about the BTC quietly acquiring land. In a province where so much is private, and the Ford gov't seems intent on privatizing public parks, it's all a big deal.
Shawn Micallef: Bruce Trail is a miracle. It should be an inspiration for creating parks in Toronto
Publicly accessible green spaces like the Bruce Trail are difficult to create these days, but proved to be a definite asset during the pandemic.

It is one of the most iconic portraits of the 20th century.
The portrait has appeared on stamps and on the British £5 banknote.
And it was taken by Canada's greatest portrait photographer at Parliament Hill.

I’ve given to Farley a couple times & dedicated it to a friend who lost their pet recently. They send them a little card.
On a related note: my work is doing double matching today, so I'm donating to the Farley Foundation. A couple years ago I saw a news story on a similar place in BC that helps with vet costs so people didn't have to surrender their pets. Farley is the Ontario version.

Indeed there were many concerned, hand-wringing articles and X posts about "echo chambers" and how we were depriving ourselves of the wisdom of alternate viewpoints, all of which was easily decoded as I AM IMPORTANT AND HAVE IMPORTANT THOUGHTS WHY WON'T YOU ACKNOWLEDGE ME AND MY IMPORTANTOSITY
back when bluesky was still blowing up, wasn't bsky's self-moderation what the dipshits on the right complained about the most? like, those stupid bastards were actually for-real crying about censorship and suppression of free speech because so many of us blocked them.
