So happy I was finally able to hunt down all the hardbacks for the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells!!!
Living in Japan means it's hard to come by English books, so I had to get a friend to bring some from Forbidden Planet in the UK and ordered the rest from Kinokuniya.

Finished Book Lovers by Emily Henry and I get why her books are so crazy popular. I'm not a big romance person but I really enjoyed the writing and interconnecting plot threads. The writing itself was also very good. A lot of fun for a popcorn read.

Went to a self-published book fair today and was very good. Only bought six books, three book covers, one zine, and one photo collection.

If you enjoy books and have already read The Thursday Murder Club, I highly recommend The Stranger Times series. Not a murder mystery but a low-fantasy mystery with brilliant British humour.

Watched the movie of The Thursday Murder Club and I think they did a pretty good job. Obviously had to change some stuff from the novel to get all the key points in and had to add a little drama for the screen, but overall good adaptation.

Was feeling meh so did some retail therapy at one of my favourite bookstores. It came with a free book cover!!!

I'm mostly thinking of 線は、僕を描く (Sen wa Boku o Egaku) which has the secret genius who finds purpose in life thanks to this thing he's naturally talented at and wows the jaded woman who's trained her whole life in this skill but loves him for being better than her.

It was an okay story. Not amazing but not infuriating. The most annoying thing about it was the author kept putting half the conversations in description text instead of dialogue.

I may have gone overboard with the Simplicity clothes pattern sale, but at least now I won't have to worry about not being able to find nice clothes that fit me in Japan.

Related, but this is my to-read pile I took at the start of the year. I've only been able to read three Japanese books this year and DNFed two 😭 I am in a massive reading slump but don't know how to get out of it.
