Yup. I have nothing but respect for said 53yo woman; she is amazing. She has already been leading and shaping the church for a while. This quote just continues to show how profoundly boomer-centric our church (and institutions) are, and we must deal soon.
It blows me away that a 53-year-old woman is referred to as *the future of our church* in a recent prominent article. Folks, pretty sure that’s the present of our church. ⚓️

Last year I thought Victoria Day was just a local thing. This year we enjoyed the gorgeous May long weekend like many across Canada. Malahat Skywalk, bike ride to Sidney, and got the patio furniture out. Ready for summer in this gorgeous place! #yyj #vancouverisland

How close are they trying to get to The Hunger Games? I didn’t expect we would get to fantasy-novel dystopia quite so fast. But here we are.
Kristi Noem has been working with the producer of “Duck Dynasty” to pitch a reality TV show—titled “The American”—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to a new report.
Noem Plots Reality Show Where Migrants Fight for Citizenship
A Homeland Security official told the Daily Beast that the show is in the early stages of vetting, though approval has not been given—or denied.

Yes, in Victoria there is a birthday party for bike lanes and it’s amazing.

I love seeing how well used infrastructure can be when it’s connected, safe and enjoyable to use.

@jjt1.bsky.social writes brilliantly about how we cannot sanitize Pope Francis like we have MLK.
Remembering the radical Pope Francis - Faith Tides
The sanitization and the sanctification will start soon. Pope Francis has just passed but innocuous bromides about his contributions will come fast and furious. So much hinges on how Francis is rememb...

This is the 5th time Al-Ahli Hospital has been bombed since 2023. They were given 20 minutes to evacuate all patients.

Today I find some meaning in remembering that the ‘Hosanna’ we cried on this Palm Sunday means ‘save us’. Save us, indeed. From ourselves. From evil. From this mess we have made.
Israel bombed the Anglican Church's Al-Ahli Hospital on Passover and on Palm Sunday.
Read that again.

It was a gorgeous weekend in #yyj so of course we went for a hike and to the beach (a couple times). McKenzie Bight was lovely with beautiful waterfalls, shells and sea creatures galore, and the always beautiful view.

This is what I’ve been thinking all day. I’ve quoted Sen. Booker in sermons as long as I’ve been ordained (when he was my senator!) because he so often shares the gospel when he speaks. What we saw today isn’t new from him and we need more of it.
A thing about Booker: he's one of the most consistently on-message politicians I've ever met.

He told me this in 2018:

"Every speech I give, I will not yield from talking about that revival of civic grace. Talking about revival of the civic gospels. Talking about the need to love one another."

This is going to get worse, not better. Never underestimate the American public’s thirst for performative cruelty towards The Other: defendants, foreigners, anyone they’ve been conditioned to see as less than human. We’re the country that made lynchings into picnics.

Oldest child: ‘I have my own whole island! There’s bird poop everywhere!’ Seems like an apt metaphor for the myth of rugged American individualism: it leaves you all alone and it’s full of shit.
