Aisha’s nickname should be on point: Poverty is incredibly expensive, not just because of lack of money, but the time, mental bandwidth, the inability to plan.

@darrickhamilton.bsky.social said it best: Wealth is economic power. Wealth provides economic agency.

Through his work as an economist and founding director of @racepowerpolicy.org, Darrick is guided by the truth that all human beings are entitled to basic economic rights.

If you think taxes and race are unrelated, think again. Tax policy is a civil rights issue. Period.

@dorothyabrown.bsky.social's blog exposes how hidden inequities in the U.S. tax code mean Black Americans pay more while building less wealth. She also offers solutions. www.rwjf.org/en/insights/...

I’m grateful for this partnership between @rwjf.org and Lemonada Media and the opportunity to lift up more stories that reflect what we feel deeply in our souls: caregiving makes everything else possible. Policies just need to get with the program!

“Families aren’t broken, the economy is.” @nataliefoster.bsky.social said what needed to be said 👏.

Too often, we place the burden of structural problems on families—and that’s unacceptable. We must instead change the structures so that they support the health and well-being of families.

Tired of care systems that don't value all families? Same.
Everyone deserves equitable access to care.

@tcfdotorg.bsky.social, @caringacross.org & @npwf.bsky.social built this research hub around the care economy to help make it happen:

While we celebrate this month (and always) we must unite in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and stand up loud and proud to push for lasting change– so that all individuals and families can live in dignity, safety and the freedom to live how they choose.

We will refuse to let our joy be stolen. I will wear my red, eat my red, and celebrate every part of the rich legacy Juneteenth represents. Let this day serve not only as a historical moment but as a call for justice, equity, and preservation of our history!

From pursuing a dream career to being able to properly care for a health condition – wealth provides economic agency. My good friend @darrickhamilton.bsky.social explains how programs like #BabyBonds can give young adults the foundation they need to build real, lasting economic security.

Corporate tax breaks are costing us the chance to transform millions of lives. That lost revenue could end #ChildPoverty, fund care for every child, and support working families. We must rethink who our tax code is really for, and demand a system that puts people, not profits, first.

@nataliefoster.bsky.social reminds us: the economy is shaped by our choices. And now, we can choose differently. To build an economy that invests in people & expands opportunity for all, especially children. Let’s redesign systems to end poverty & close the racial wealth gap. rwjf.ws/economicincl...
