Happy Gotcha Day!

We adopted two kittens in spring 2024 - it was chaos, but at least they had each other to run all that energy off with. I suspect having one bored kitten would have been far worse.

They're more sedate (sometimes) now.

Charlie looks very comfy.

I want to come back as a cat who lives with someone like me. This is Ceridwyn helping me work (my desk faces this window).

Today's writing assistant: Ceridwyn isn't happy unless she's sitting in front of me, so she spends most days in the window behind my desk.

Yes, she often sleeps with her face in her paws.

We adopted a bonded pair. They’re too big to share the cat tree like they did last summer, but still inseparable.

Here's Izzy caught checking out my books.

I love your Chelsie posts.

Here are my cats. Now Izzy (black with white and the smaller one) fills this level of the cat tree by herself. She and Ceridwyn (white with black) were about 5 months old here (they’re sisters).

A timeline cleanse from Izzy (black with white) and Ceridwyn (white with black).

My girls say happy Tuesday!

What’s happening is awful, but we shouldn’t lose what makes us happy in the process.

I’m going to look for a couple of happy posts each day and post one of my own most days to provide little breaks from the “wtf are they doing now” moments.

Here’s Giovanni, my parents’ cat, asleep in my lap.

You taught him that humans were trainable - the most valuable lesson for any cat, just ask my two, Izzy and Ceridwyn.

My kittens in their first birthday. Izzy is the tuxedo on the bookshelf. Ceridwyn is the white with black cat on the mantle.

I think we all need a cuteness break: Izzy (tuxedo) just learned she could get to that shelf from the mantle. Ceridwyn (whit with black), her sister, is clearly proud of her accomplishment.

If you need a little break, here are some comfy kittens.

Each Wednesday, I’m going to post about something you won’t get when you work with me.

Why am I doing this?

To help potential clients judge whether or not I’m the writing coach for them. Marketing messages tend to focus on what you will get - the outcomes you’ll get, the bonuses, etc.

If you need a kitten break, here’s Ceridwyn.

This is a 3 minute walk from where I'm working today! There have been many breaks.

This is my first full day back at work this year. I'll spend most of it writing. It's a good thing walking is good for writing.

How's your return to work going?

What are your plans for the rest of 2024? If you need me, I'll be reading.
December 27, 2024 at 12:27 PM
I recently read The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. I found it very hard to put the book down, even though I had lots of things I needed to do last week.

The book is sort of The Handmaid's Tale (Atwood) meets Lord of the Flies (Golding) with a dash of The Crucible (Miller) thrown in. 1/

Izzy watching snooker.

The World Championship was going on when we first brought her and her sister home last spring. She’s still determined to join the fun.

We’re having damp proofing work done this week. Ceridwyn and her sister, Izzy , are looking forward to the dust sheets coming off the bookcases tomorrow so they can reclaim their favourite perch.

Cat photos are always good for karma, especially cute tuxedoes! Here are my kittens (taken in June):
