#islamicartweek2025 Working drawing from my lesson with the amazing Aslam Qureshi. The tessellated pattern is taken from the Al Hussein Mosque in Cairo. Delightfully intricate to draft.. I will post a photo when I’ve figured it out!! #islamicgeometry #islamicgeometricpatterns #islamicart

#islamicartweek2025 Fascinating lesson yesterday with wonderful artist Aziza Iqbal drafting a geometric motif from Masjid-I-Sayyad Mosque, Isfahan. Plenty of mistakes, but I’ve found that I enjoy the process and geometry more than the result, which surprised me. Can’t wait for more #islamicgeometry

Today, it’s a cute little #acrylic #gouache study of a #mossy #ash #tree trunk outside my cottage. I love the pattern and colours that the #lichens and #mosses bring to it.

A quick watercolour study of a little sprig of Common Ivy (hedera helix) that attached itself to my boots earlier today. Getting back into wet painting after working digitally for the last few years. #watercolour #ivy #hedera #illustration #botanicalart #botanicalillustration

A PDF of the monograph can be viewed on the Wessex Archaeology website, here:

(2/3) The #reconstruction shows the #RomanoBritish settlement near the present-day Humberston Road, south of #Grimsby, and depicts a #Roman ‘control point’ gateway on the main road through the #flooded #coastal #saltmarsh landscape.

I’m living the dream, folks. Studying C3rd BCE Roman terracotta temple decorations, in bed, with three whippets.
Technically, I’m wearing one whippet. It’s really hard to type like this, but I thought you folks might appreciate my dedication ;)

Well, it’s raining and windy here in U.K. as Storm Agnes touches down. So naturally my #sketchbook page today has me yearning for sunnier days and epic sunsets.

Sand and sky, Sept 27 2023. Inspired by macro photography of geometric sand particles.
