Long Island Grandma, 83, 'Had No Idea' She Was a Candidate for Town Supervisor. That Didn't Stop Her from Getting Votes
Maria Delgado, 83, was “flabbergasted” to learn she was listed as a candidate for the local election of supervisor in Huntington, N.Y.

I mean, she totally deserves to be in prison, but also…yeah. One of those guys not in prison is a rich prince! One of those guys might be the president of the United States!

This essay (which I have no beef with, it’s good; it’s calling awareness to more instances of this garbage) actually uses the Kimmel incident to try to appeal to folks about people being abducted off the streets www.disabledginger.com/p/help-rodne...

Also, someone mentioned this in one of the local groups (I think Huntington Voices) that they suspect Maria Delgado was picked purposely because it sound Latino, figuring it would draw votes from Huntington's large Hispanic population. I'm beginning to buy that now!

Wow. Maria Delgado, 83, didn't know she was on the ballot and hadn't switched parties on her own (her daughter explains in the article). And yet our reelected supervisor, who everyone suspects was at least peripherally involved or aware, is shrugging and saying, "Too bad, too sad."

It's also hard not to speculate (and that's all I'm doing here, based on the lack of solid info yet) that, in a town with a large Hispanic population, the name "Maria Delgado" was chosen specifically to appeal to (and deceive) that demographic

This quote from an anonymous "political insider" also seems to be some BS, since there are people in the town who say this has going on for years, not since some alleged incident in June (and fwiw, if the Dems did this as well, that's doesn't seem to be cool, either)

Newsday's take, so far (and the mysterious Maria Delgado who ran for town supervisor on the Working Families Party line *does* seem to be the 83yo in town, lol)
