I'm not a fan of all the media describing claims about paracetamol and autism as "unproven". That gives the impression that there might be something to it, but we just have to do more research. That's nonsense.

Read this instead: theneuroscienceofeverydaylife.substack.com/p/the-true-o...
The true origins of autism?
Forget smartphones or vaccines, a new study reveals that neurodivergence is something that evolved millions of years ago. And we likely wouldn't be human without it.

For those who don't recall, the closest ship to the Titanic was The Californian. They did not respond to distress signals. The Carpathia did, from much further away. That captain was a hero.

This is so worth your time.
This one's maybe a little on the ling side, but trust me, it's worth it. I've cried reading it multiple times.

Our national culture is stealing things from other countries.
Exactly Liz, nothing represents 'our national culture' more than Greek statues made in Greece by Greeks.

Two days of nice weather have coincided with two days of workmen digging up the pavement outside my neighbour's house. Now my house stinks of hot tarmac, the machinery sounds like fighting dinosaurs, and I've had to shut the windows again. Typical British summer.

Sometimes there’s too much going on in the world and you need to look at a large ridiculous bird for a minute.

I've always had dogs, so I didn't realise local cats just wandered into houses whenever they felt like it!

Since my lovely dog, Bettie, passed away in February, a cat turf war has begun. Both of my neighbours have cats, who despise each other. Whenever I leave the back door open, one or other of them wanders in and tries to get comfy in the house. My living room is prime new territory.

Look at the size of these delivery drones! I live in Darlington, and I'm not looking forward to them whizzing over the house.
Amazon chooses Darlington for UK first drone deliveries to your street
The first UK drone delivery trials will start in a 7.5mile area around Darlington

My neighbour has roofers up on their roof, replacing soffits in this wind. I'm expecting to see a small man flying past my window before the end of the day.

The birdbath creates one of these ice discs every night. Whenever I remove it and top the bath up, a gang of blackbirds are the first to go in for a morning splash.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters of the last tv show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who is coming to save you?

You don't need to fit in.
Be yourself.
Live in a castle made of books. Cultivate a magnificent beard of barnacles. Wear elk antlers festooned with wildflowers.
The world needs your weirdness & dark beauty now more than ever.

One of my neighbours has an inflatable Father Christmas on the side of their house. They take it in when bad weather is forecast and bring it out when it's going to be calm. It's like having a big festive weather station in the street.

This is Cole: a wandering cat who hangs out in my local area. He comes to the back door every day for breakfast and tea before heading off on very important cat business. He's a gentle soul who loves Dreamies Creamys and roast chicken.

I've just refilled all the bird feeders, watched by Bonnie & Clyde - a robin couple who are the scourge of the garden. Their main goal in life is to keep the other birds off the food and fat balls with vicious claws-first fighting moves. They're going to have a very busy afternoon.

I've just caught up with the Hidden Books Game and FINALLY got all 20 (with a lot of help). The vampire clue made me feel like an idiot. I was thinking way too hard about that one. hiddenbooks.nationalbooktokens.com?competition=...

I've just watched episode 9 of Severence, thinking there'd be 10 episodes in the series. There isn't. They can't leave the story there!!! I thought I had another episode to go!

I had to stop listening to an audiobook a few months ago because I didn't like the voice actor's style. Now I'm partway through The Undying Of Obedience Wellrest, the narration has switched from male to female, and it's the same voice actor again! I might have to get the book instead.
