It really is the purest encapsulation of this movement in terms of both its leaders and adherents: an old angry guy who can’t do pull ups making everyone watch him try to do pull ups

David Osit’s documentary Predators, which I raved about at Sundance, is now streaming on Paramount+. It’s a knotty, complicated, and ultimately very moving account of the legacy of To Catch a Predator and the outsourcing of justice, and … you should watch it.

This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

Anyway. Yogurt it is!

A perfect example of how AI boosters want to make people simulacrums so they can charge them a fee to be themselves. Altman wants to replace Dr. Spock's classic sublime advice—"Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do."—with total reliance on his expensive stochastic parrot.

It will never stop being infuriating that Trump is held to no objective standards -- even standards he himself claimed he would succeed in!

We've continued to shed manufacturing jobs since Inauguration Day -- despite (or, given the April timing, because of?) tariffs! It's objective reality!

And that you’re too much of an opportunist to stand up for what’s right and risk alienating someone who might give you money.
I see this sort of proud posturing a lot and it's really a wonderful way to loudly demonstrate to everyone you have absolutely no idea what's going on

it is actually kind of bananas how unitary executive theorists have taken a straightforward clause requiring the president to "faithfully execute the laws" and transformed it into a grant for the exercise of limitless unenumerated power.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl
