This display from Coco Gauff and Danielle Collins is doing a lot to push back against the growing dominance narrative of Americans in the WTA. Just awful from both.

I mean this happened on an ex-cop’s watch. Why isn’t Adams facing these questions? Shit like this is why people deride the NYT, despite most of the journalists there doing good, serious work.
Monday’s mass shooting may put concerns over gun violence back on voters’ minds, and have already lead some to scrutinize Mr. Mamdani for his views on policing. “He clearly does not understand what public safety is all about,” said Cuomo w/ @emmagf.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/07/29/n...

Does anyone know why since dipping my toe into my mid 30s my achilles tendons are just always sore now despite never having had an issue with that part of my body in my life??!

I always assumed that with time Naomi Osaka would return to form but man, she is lost out there. Awful decision making, zero patience, tiny margins on every single shot. She’s been through a lot and is only 2 years post child birth but…think a come to Jesus moment might be necessary.

This guy has always been a weirdo and on top of that a gambling addict. He is the degenerate of whom he speaks!!!
Sorry to post a tweet I saw on Reddit but lmao

He screwed over his wrestling colleagues. He irreparably damaged journalism. He was an unrepentant racist. He was more a POS than not.
Hulk Hogan leaves such a complicated legacy. He changed the entertainment business. He changed the journalism business. He did bad things and good things.

One of the two greatest pro wrestlers ever, and he never stopped selling the gimmick.

I fear that a lot of Democrats are gonna eat this up.
The White House, via yet another executive order, has announced a plan for the sweeping removal and subsequent detention of people experiencing homelessness.

It’s only a small comfort that this man will never be president.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro chides Zohran Mamdani for not condemning other people’s antisemitism:

“He left open far too much space for extremists to either use his words or for him to not condemn the words of extremists that said some blatantly antisemitic things.”
Shapiro rebukes Mamdani for failing to condemn ‘blatantly antisemitic’ extremists
The Pennsylvania governor told JI: ‘When supporters of yours say things that are blatantly antisemitic, you can't leave room for that to just sit there’

The distance between what is in happening Gaza, fully backed with US dollars and political support, and the reaction of American politicians who by and large just don’t seem to care or support it is just completely brain-breaking.

Not Venus saying she’s still playing one tennis match a year because the WTA was trying to kick her off the health insurance and put her on COBRA. She is so funny 😆

Dem politicians are nostalgic about Reagan because it was easier for them to roll over and acquiesce to the gentler/decorous (but still deadly) version of the GOP in the name of bipartisanship than this absolutely cartoonishly evil/villainous one. The handwringing isn’t flying with the voters now.
What happened to this Republican Party?

Interesting how 80% of the press corps are stenographers for law enforcement when the subjects are poor and working people but when it comes to the powerful, all of a sudden everything is alleged and also "hard to prove."

I saw the new Superman mostly because Nicholas Hoult is quickly becoming one of the most interesting actors working today and I thought it was charming and earnest but man, James Gunn has a lot of idiosyncrasies as a filmmaker that I find grating.

Strains credulity that she could be this dumb. But alas, she’s proven it many times over.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski said she feels “cheated” after she won a concession in the tax and spending bill to protect wind and solar projects, only to see the Trump administration issue orders that she said seem designed to quash such projects.
Sen. Murkowski, feeling ‘cheated’ by Trump actions against wind and solar, says she’ll go to bat for Alaska projects
Murkowski won a concession in the Big, Beautiful Bill to protect tax credits for 12 months for wind and solar. But she said a recent presidential order and Interior directive undercut those plans.

I was in Paris walking on Boulevard de Clichy near the Pigalle metro and a car pulls up to the curb, a man gets out, and my friend and I literally walk right into him. My friend screamed, “OMG IT’S HOUSE” and Hugh Laurie looked at us in bewilderment and perhaps a little disdain lmao

One of my biggest takeaways from the Embiid profile is that I wish he were drafted by a real organization that had their shit together a la Duncan, who Brett tried to use as an example of the kind of leader Joel could emulate early in his career. Joel’s wariness of the org seems justified.
