Microbiologist. CC professor. MSU Spartan. Crocheter. Beekeeper. Beer/Bourbon drinker. AuCaDo breed of choice but I love all things furry including my husband.
Man in white came up to read my sign “what would you do during the Holocaust. You’re doing it now.”
Then he showed the others.

Thing is, if you’re triggered by that sign…If it makes you mad…then it’s 100% for you. And if not, if your heart is “right with Jesus” (pun intended) then you won’t be mad.

Protest in Petoskey, Michigan today. I’m so happy to see this in such a red area I’m actually emotional.

So, I plated some of the isolates with diagnostic antibiotics. It was indeed susceptible to bacitracin, effectively confirming that I had Strep throat.

I have been very sick lately and the doctor thought it was Strep throat. So I swabbed myself. The colonies were indeed beta hemolytic, but I’m a Staph carrier (1/4 of us are) so I tested for catalase. It was catalase negative which indicates Streptococcus not Staphylococcus.

I asked ChatGPT to make Perle a person. Told it she was a sweet, easygoing, older lady who is always up for anything. Why does the person remind me of my mom?!

First day in Hawaii and I’m SUPER sick, but we weren’t going to miss the chance to make our voices heard. #HandsOff Hilo, Hawaii

And just like that, it’s the last time I’ll teach immunology. Packed up all my vaccine boxes I use for teaching and all my activities for this unit today.

Remember when I got in trouble for putting a flag in my window at the condo? Welp! No rules against wreaths!

I turned the ribbons into custom bracelets. (I bought the bracelets for this.) Now I’ll have a reminder of this very treasured gift. I’m so proud to wear them this week.

A student brought me candies her mom brought from Ukraine to thank me for showing support. She said I was the only professor. I sobbed. She gifted me precious limited candy her mom brought back.

Last time doing the GNB Unknowns. This was so much work for me to do for them… but I won’t miss the grading! I don’t think unknowns projects serve non majors in their careers. I designed the report to test critical thinking, but it’s the best I can do.

I ended up buying it. They put the back labels sticker over top of the printed gold front label!

Spotted at the corner of Kalamazoo and 28th St. I love seeing these little acts of resistance.

Just the random stuff in the back of my car; a sassy politicial tshirt, a very old protest sign, my Unit 3 microbiology teach stuff, and my bag of iClickers. Pretty clear what my priorities are. 😁

I put it in the back window of my car instead. 😈😈😈

Oh? Did my upside down flag upset someone? Boohoo. 😈

We aren’t allowed to have signs. But we are allowed to fly one flag or have one wreath. So this is my choice. My last one was just a printed paper, so I’m glad for this one to show more since my window faces the very front.

I printed one for about a week, but today when going to get groceries I found one for $2.50. I was so embarrassed buying it, but this is what it was for.
