This year, we did something new - a permit to cut down a “wild” tree from the Green Mountain National Forest. What fun to find this 18 foot balsam fir (top 8 feet are in the picture, boughs from bottom 20 feet turned into garland). We are loving the space between branches to see ornaments. #vermont

Rambled in the woods this afternoon on old logging roads on state land with @deegeeoh.bsky.social and a neighbor. Found some pretty waterfalls on streams and a (we think) Vireo nest, woven with birch bark on the outside and black bear fur on the inside. #vermont

Spent some of the day getting the yard ready for winter and adding solar lights to birch and sumac in planters for the long, dark nights. #vermont
