Working to remember to savor the time I have here. I think everyone should listen to the last movement of Mahler 4 regularly, among other things.
@larrysummers.bsky.social is an avowed elitist of the first order. All this is to be expected out of powerful, white, cis, hetero, American men. American patriarchs with power protect their leaders with zeal and enormous amounts of whining. @billclinton.bsky.social was an Epstein crony, BTW.

What one should expect from an avowed elitist like @larrysummers.bsky.social, a big buddy of @billclinton.bsky.social a very well known sexual predator. This is how powerful, white, cis, hetrosexual men behave in the US. This is what we get from our American Patriarchy.

And, @democrats.org, you should probably remember that you ran @hillaryclinton.bsky.social for president when we all knew her husband, @billclinton.bsky.social, was a sexual predator. @democrats.org should be out there demanding that all sexual predators and their enablers be punished.

@democrats.org, while I agree that tRump should be held accountable for any sex crimes he committed as a result of Epstein's enabling, I don't think @democrats.org should be gloating, considering the fact that @billclinton.bsky.social was just as guilty of consorting with Epstein for many years.

Was he afraid of the noise, or is he so smart that he's already figured out that noise means there's a chance at a treat if he positions himself back there?

While Hitler never won a majority in the Reichstag and Mussolini never won a Majority in the Italian Parliament, they did have strong support from the middle classes of both their countries who were fairly easily manipulated by fear of communism and their inherited racism and anti-Semitism.

I also think this subject was handled - well - by some very smart people like Hannah Arendt, Primo Levi, and Elie Wiesel. All humans are capable of becoming saints and all humans are capable of becoming monsters; and most humans exhibit the face of both a monster and a saint during their lives.

What you write seems to be supported by the historical record in Italy, Germany, and Austria during the period between the World Wars. There were economic stresses in all three countries, but fascism/Nazism was attractive to the middle classes in all 3 countries, if I understand their histories.

@pelosi.house.gov will be remembered for failing to protect America's democracy. She could have promoted bills to enlarge the US House, saving us from most of the terrors we are living through right now, but she craved power more than she loved the country. Worst kind of professional politician.

Apropos of your theory, I finally got around to reading this book review that is for a book that points to similar motivations for Hitler (which I have not yet read): The Forgotten History of Hitler’s Establishment Enablers

Thanks for making a point about politics based on principles. I see that as the failure of the US as it moved through its century of hegemony. The US fought against communism and for private property rights rather than for democracy, and the power to make life better on Earth was squandered.

She was channeling Elizabeth Taylor at her most delightfully bitchiest. She goes into awards season as one of my favorites, but all the women are brilliant. Nina Hoss yet again proves that she is a gift. I especially liked that DaCosta left all the women alive to fight another day.

Oh, you're missing out; and while all the main characters are supposed to be heteros, the soap opera presented in the series is compelling, the underscoring is really good, and the scenery is spectacular. I'm ready to visit the Camargue ASAP. And the series feels kinda queer in inspiration.

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, I respect you, but I don't trust you because I haven't heard you and @democrats.org declare absolute dedication to making the US, and Michigan, more nearly a democracy. Fighting for power without holding to principles makes @democrats.org equal to Republicans.
October 5, 2025 at 5:39 PM
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social and #MichiganDemocrats, once I read of @democrats.org in the state doing those things, when you all demand that state and national governments are operated to fulfill the promises of the Declaration of Independence, I will believe that you are all doing "the hard work."
October 5, 2025 at 5:39 PM
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats demanding that power be truly handed to the people of Michigan, with all governmental activities conducted in the open, and with absolutely no decisions of any sort being made on the down low without full consultation with Michigan residents?
October 5, 2025 at 5:39 PM
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats demanding that the @democrats.org take responsibility for failing to advocate for these kinds of principled changes, and for having instead protected their leaders when they lied to the American people about having committed criminal acts?
October 5, 2025 at 5:39 PM
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social, are #MichiganDemocrats advocating for a review of their State's and the US Constitution, aimed at moving both the Michigan and the US Federal Governments toward democracy and away from rule by a small, usually rich, set of political Elites?
