"Criminals posing as US immigration officers have carried out robberies, kidnappings, and sexual assaults in several states"

Apparently these crimes are to be distinguished from the illegal things the masked secret police are doing with government sanction.
This really hasn’t gotten enough attention this week.

Such wisdom here.

What freedom to be able to say "I am blessed. I have enough."
Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

Of all the problems and concerns with this Administration - and there are many - the extrajudicial killing of foreign nationals with no evidence or oversight has to be near the top of the list.
🔥 @jessicatarlov.bsky.social : “No one can confirm we’ve actually been taking out drug traffickers… the admiral in charge resigned… all these people have been blown up without any evidence of a crime… the government’s story is not adding up.”

When the work of shepherding leads us to pride, judgment, superiority, or deception, we have forgotten that we are a lamb. A shepherd who is not first a lamb is a dangerous shepherd and has ceased to follow the Good Shepherd.

I'm not saying people who have committed immigration offenses (overstaying visas, entering illegally) should never be taken into custody. I'm saying it should be done without terrorizing the community, and prioritize people who actually pose a threat to the community.

There's also apparently money to directly pay Pres. Tr*mp $230 million.

In case anyone is unclear, this is what the government shut down is about.

GOP thinks this is fine, Democrats want to extend tax credits that help Americans afford healthcare.
Just receieved this today from Florida Blue. This is for a Bronze plan. Our monthly premiums are going from $333 (2025) to $2300 in 2026.

Why did we install a government that hate its citizens?

People voted supreme executive power to some of the most ignorant, corrupt misanthropes in our nation's history. And most people just keep shrugging their shoulders. It will never make sense.

It’s incredible that the VT State Senator wrapped up in this hasn’t resigned yet — every major GOP leader in the state has called for his resignation. Fixing democracy requires restoring shame to public life. And accountability. Lots of accountability. vtdigger.org/2025/10/14/v...

This is the best one-line summary of the book of Jonah ever. It's a tale as old as time and as contemporary as today's news.

What does it say about us that we elected Jonah as President, though?
I call this Jonah's dilemma because he wants love but doesn't want everybody to have love too.

It's an ancient story with contemporary applications.

Which story of America do you want to live out?

On a side note, it's good to be reminded that we used to have (and could have again) Presidents who speak intelligently, thoughtfully, and compellingly.
OBAMA: “There has always been this fight over what is the true story of 🇺🇸?”

The former president boils it down powerfully on Maron’s final episode

Autism isn't caused by vaccines, and autistic people and their families deserve our support.

When you want information, ask your doctor.

It's more important than ever for all of us to speak plainly, truthfully, and directly about public health.

🔥Folks, this is not a drill. They even admit they're going to wait until after the 2026 mid-terms to roll out their "alternatives" to Constitutional law. For some time, we have been in a constitutional crisis, and the people behind want to expand it and make sure they stay in power forever.🔥
When they tell you they plan on throwing out the constitution, believe them.

I have had people sit under my preaching for years and end up far, far left of me, theologically. I've had people sit under my preaching for years and end up far, far right of me, theologically.

My only prayer for us all is that we remain in Christ. Then One Day, we will all sit together and laugh.

Wise insights on a cynical culture and how to (re)build trust as a pastor.

"Congregants have learned to be suspicious of pastoral motives—and honestly, can you blame them?"

"shepherds care more about the welfare of the sheep than their own reputation."

My wife just unlocked a new level of chicken pot pie.

Her recipe is already great, but this time she slow-cooked the chicken in a crock pot, shredded it, then baked it into the pot pie. The combo of slow-cooking + shredding saturated the chicken with amazing flavor and juiciness.

It hasn't been great for the US, either.
🔥 Finally an EU leader says it out loud:

“We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies.”
President Macron: “Europeans, let's wake up!

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

Violent, hateful rhetoric is a plague not limited to one party. Nobody who talks like this should be welcomed in civilized society, much less given a position of power.

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The mediocre lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
