Sorry I was unclear. I was asking if there are examples where the mouse holds the *decision* in memory (in this example, “match” or “no match”) without knowing a motor plan. It seems that decisions are always linked to a response making it hard to dissociate the decision from motor planning.

Out of curiosity, have you come across any studies in which rodents make and maintain a decision in memory that is NOT already explicitly tied to a motor response?
