The Canadian government passed legislation allowing CSIS to more easily share intelligence with private companies after it was pressed by pipeline builder TC Energy to set up regular “information-sharing” meetings with industry, CSIS and RCMP.

We shouldn't dismiss or look away from this. It isn't only in Trump's America that we are witnessing a growing alignment and collaboration between the state's security forces (CSIS, RCMP) and resource extraction companies against land and water protectors.
