Trifecta. Bat and Squid nebulae are front and center(ish). The top of B150 (Dark Seahorse) is at the right edge. The bat flies about 2,400 light years away. ~80 hours of data collected in 4 wideband and 2 narrowband filters with my scope in SW New Mexico. #astrophotography #photography

Molecular dust flying about 600 light-years away. This image is about 3.5x2.5 degrees, which means the moon would fit inside the field of view 35 times. Taken with my Takahashi Epsilon in SW New Mexico and processed in my astro-den in Virginia. #astrophotography #photography

The String of Pearls Galaxy is a mere 6.5 million light-years away -- right next door. The bright pink HII regions form the string of pearls in this image. Data from a CDK20 I subscribe to in Chile and processed by me in central Virginia. #astrophotography #photography

Grab the antihistamines. The dark seahorse nebula, Fireworks Galaxy, and an open star cluster (lower left), all squattin’ in a large field of molecular dust. Taken with my Takahashi Epsilon in SW New Mexico and processed by me in central Virginia. Giddyup. #astrophotography #photography

What can be said about a space seahorse swimming in ionized hydrogen that hasn't already been said a million times? Imaged with my Takahashi telescope in SW New Mexico and processed by me in #crozetva, which lacks seahorses but has plenty of polo ponies on Sundays. 🤷‍♂️ #astrophotography #photography

The Small Magellanic Cloud is a dwarf satellite galaxy of the Milky Way in our Southern Hemisphere. There's a young, open cluster of stars (NGC346) to the lower right of these HII regions, a mere 210,000 light years away. Data from a CDK20 in Chile and processed by me. #astrophotography #photography

My favorite part is this guy about to Forrest Gump Trump’s big beautiful propaganda shot, and the folks in the stands watching in horror.

Omega Centauri is one of the largest globular clusters in our galaxy. It is nearly as old as the Milky Way and may be a remnant of a disrupted dwarf galaxy. It sports the gold and blue stars characteristic of globs. Data from a CDK20 in Chile processed by me in VA. #astrophotography #photography

Sculptor is nearby as galaxies go -- only 11.4M light-years. It is undergoing intense star formation. Those bright, pinkish blobs are nebulae. The intense dust lanes -- star stuff ready to build something new. Data from a CDK20 in Chile and processed by me. #astrophotography #photography

The Tarantula Nebula has a radius of nearly 1k light years and sits in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a dwarf satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, about 160k light years away. We are cosmic gnats. Data from a CDK20 in Chile and processed by me in gnat-sized #crozetva. #astrophotography #photography

IC 2944 is better known as the Running Chicken Nebula. That’s its real name. It is definitely NOT a commentary on American trade policy (😏). Where was I…the data is from a CDK20 telescope I subscribe to in Chile. I processed this using a Hubble-style palette. #astrophotography #photography

There’s no known (to me) catalog designation, but this is a cloud of molecular dust in Ursa Major. This image is the result of about 32 hours of integration time using ~800 sub-exposures. Taken with my Takahashi Epsilon in Southwest New Mexico. #astrophotography #photography

I like to call this “siblings” because it reminds me of my siblings, the MAGA Bagginses, who have lost their friggin’ ‘eads. Best family portrait ever. I have no idea what it’s really called, but I took this pic at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, TX in 2017.

The Rosette Nebula is a stellar nursery 5,200 light-years away. The center is a cluster of young stars formed by the nebulosity. It is about 130 light-years across. Imaged with my Takahashi Epsilon telescope in SW New Mexico. #astrophotography #photography

The Northern Trifid Nebula is an HII region of active star formation about 2100 light-years away. It's surrounded by a large cloud of molecular dust known as the California Molecular Cloud. This image is the result 22 hours of exposures from my telescope in New Mexico. #astrophotography #photography

The Coma Cluster is one of the earliest indicators of dark matter. In 1933, Franz Zwicky noted the discrepancy between the galaxies' velocities and their tendency to stay together, suggesting a form of dark matter. Over 90% of the cluster is believed to be dark matter. #astrophotography #photography
