But if it had been a failure of government policy in Scotland, we’d never hear the end of it.
It’s a sign of how insane the news cycle is these days that this historic failure of government policy got just one day of news coverage this week.

Not saying that’s right or wrong, but it’s astonishing how quickly the agenda moves on these days.
BREAKING: UK’s response to Covid was “too little too late”. Acting faster could have saved 23,000 lives in England according to the public inquiry.

Boris Johnson presided over a “toxic, sexist, chaotic culture” in No10, where rule-breaking seriously undermined public confidence.

There's nowhere quite like Stromness in Orkney. It stretches for over a mile along the shore of Hamnavoe, an inlet of Scapa Flow. The core of the town is a main street that twists and turns between the shoreline and the hillside behind. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in.

Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

Even a big far-right vote couldn’t give the far-right total control, because the Dutch democracy promotes cooperation.

Here in the UK, just one-third of the vote could give Nigel Farage a huge majority of MPs.

Our democracy isn't fit for 21st-century politics. We need Proportional Representation.

Well. Tbh, that just doesn't work without addressing the source of the problems we face, ie. unbridled, runaway juggernaut extractive capitalism, which is being given even more power by the world's govt's, with a very few exceptions. We are way past individual sacrifices making a difference.

🧵 Not everything's lost in Germany's East. A li'l local election story from Saxony:

Neschwitz, a town near Bautzen, needed a mayor. There was only one candidate - from the far-right AfD. But a provision in Saxon local election law allows voters to add a name to the ballot. Any name.

Reform is racist.
Let’s just say it.
Loudly and often.
They’re racist.
Don’t take them on on how they plan to fund their nonsense.
They don’t care.
They don’t say it because they’ve worked it out.
They say it for headlines and for voters who want prejudice as policy.
They’re racist.
They’re failure.

Never forgive and never forget what this man did to this country during lockdown. People died alone, the queen sat alone at her husband’s funeral. Businesses never recovered. Children missed out on schooling. The NHS staff worked till they dropped - he partied.
“Unless we act we could see deaths in this country running at several thousand a day,” said Boris Johnson as he forced the nation into lockdown for the second time.

A day later he hosted a secret dinner for the Tory peer who funded a lavish refurbishment of his Downing Street flat
