Resaercher in theatre, religion, politics and society. New to this beautiful blue sky.
Colleagues in philosophy, performance, etc - how are you using Judith Butler's work these days? Is it appropriate or helpful to think of her as in the same category as Heidegger? Or maybe just Zizek (who I would, on principle, never assign)?

I’m at the RCSSD‘s retrospective on the Jewish past of the Embassy Theatre. Yes, lots of artists fleeing Nazis. But so lovely to experience Jewish joy and music and theatre for an evening. It solves nothing. But the soul needs it.

Hearing Howard Jacobson talk at the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism is bracing, beautiful, difficult and necessary.

I’m back in Wisconsin. We had fried cheese curds and beer with dinner today. My arteries are feeling clogged and right at home.

So, the research project that I lead - Religous Communities in the Virtual Age (Recovira) - is not on here yet, nor is my university (Manchester Metropolitan). But you can check us out on the interwebs at recovira.org, as well as theatre.mmu.ac.uk.

I shall have to return to the Other app to congratulate the organizers at Manchester Metropolitan University for a brilliant event yesterday. But Bluesky pals, if YOU get the chance to go to Manchester to see their exhibit, "19th c mass media: magazines, annuals, & scrapbooks", DO: it's fascinating.

Hello, Blue Skyers. I'm new here. Let me know how this works and what's fun to see here. Where are the interesting voices? (But right now, no Israel/Palestine stuff, please. It's far too difficult.)
