🚨NEW: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is planning to fire Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff C.Q. Brown, a 4-Star General and 41-year veteran of the Air Force who flew over 130 hours in combat as a fighter pilot.

REPOST if you stand with General C.Q. Brown against Hegseth!

Good morning and Happy Thursday to everyone who agrees with General Milley that Americans do not owe our allegiance to a King, Queen, or a wannabe dictator. We owe our allegiance to the Constitution.

Fuck the nonsense trump says about being a king.

Tulsi Gabbard as Director Of National Intelligence is like Ted Kaczynski as Postmaster General. This will cost lives.

Give Google Maps a 1-star in the app store. I just did. I can't trust a navigation app if it can't even label major bodies of water correctly.

The Special keys have stupid names and work completely differently than anywhere else, especially the Ctrl Key. And some "designer" thought it would be nicer if the keyboard had a lot less keys... It's all for looks, not for productivity.

Forced to use Mac OS now at work. I have a nice keyboard centric workflow on Linux, Mac OS is not made for this. Aerospace and Ghostty made it half palatable, but I need to throw even more customization at it. Copy/Paste does not work yet, this is pathetic and I won't buy software to make this work.

We are 10 days into adventofcode.com/2024 and I am having a blast. I played it safer this year by doing it in go, last year I tried to do it in uiua (uiua.org) and gave up after a few days, maybe next year I will try that again, the problems are perfect for an array language.

Just finished James O'Hanlon: Eight-Legged Wonders, a book about spiders with amazing facts such as some being able to fly(as observed by Darwin), some having extremely good vision, diverse and bizarre mating behaviours etc. Very much recommended, in particular if you are not (yet) fond of spiders.

I already started looking at how to make the Mac into a productive environment for me, looks like homebrew and the Aerospace tiling window manager will be essential. Did you transition from Linux to Mac at some point and what was your experience / do you have tips on what software / settings helped?

My company now decided we must all use Macs for work. As an avid Linux user, my first thought was "Bye bye". But after a few seconds I decided it is a learning opportunity and if the company wants to dish out three times as much money for the machine as last time, it shows the company is doing well.

I easily get distracted if there are too many choices and I am glad go practices restraint and is such a sane language. I think this is the recipe for success and where some other mainstream languages are failing.

I just wanted to say that I love programming in go, I have been doing this only for half a year and only for fun. Every time I start a new project, I am getting excited, I love reading code written in go and it just works nearly every time when I use the language, it feels a bit like magic.
