We’ try to put together an SOP for crossing soon, but I do have a post in instagram ‘oatbreeding’ with videos of each step. Key points: good emasculation, clipping male panicle, position male above female panicle, tap them three times a day for 6 to 7 days.

In addition, high-density planting in low-nutrient media generated #oat plants with one single seed 85% of the time! Very close to #SSD with less labor and space, just like Cisar et al. 1982. Detailed protocol in doi.org/10.1186/s13007…. Thanks Milcah Kigoni and Megan Choi!
