I miss the openness, ability to radically connect across boundaries, the sense of discovering a whole world of people, opinions, points of view. And I miss the ability to have a conversation within that space.

I remember the early days of Twitter, at least my feed, used to be discursive. A lot of conversation, debate and learning. It's been a long time since these platforms became simply declarative. People positioning, aligning to specific political or aesthetic positions. That's all.

The thing about living in a tropical climate is the days are unbearable but the mornings and evenings are incomparable.

Kaantha is one of the most deliciously intelligent films I’ve seen in ages, gripping meditation on appearances, deception and misunderstanding, and the role of cinema in image creation.

Did you ever meet someone fun and feisty who ended up just being kind of dumb and a cunt?

It’s such a pleasure to watch old Jacques Pepin videos on YouTube. The fully stocked kitchen, with bonus vase and flowers. The endless bottles of wine gleefully consumed. The food loaded with butter and cheese. Reminds me of the time when cooking was considered pure sensual enjoyment.

My recent deep dive into menswear has been interesting, not least due to the current obsession for "heritage" clothing. I've always been attractive to garments with a history, so it's nice to see more of these items. However, I do feel we should remain on the right side of cosplay.

Okay, so don't judge me but the standard Jacob's Creek CS isn't terrible? It actually has tannin. And fruit. And... okay, well that's about it, but it was more than I expected.

Chinos in clingy technical fabrics and “business formal sneakers” should be banned.

Total waste of time at Bangalore airport’s international lounge. Over capacity, no seats and still people flooding in. Now relaxing at the spacious gate.

I love the Indian English expression “one time watch.” As in “it’s a one time watch,” usually used as a subtle put down.

The Awards Chatter interview with Parker Posey is wild and PP comes across exactly how I imagined she would be. Just love her.

My favourite bit of internet outrage right now is the uproar over how bad Janhvi Kapoor’s Malayalam accent is.

My entire adolescence was shaped by the experience of watching David and Margaret on tv every week. The Movie Show was literally the only show I would never miss. And then David’s books on Australian cinema: The Avocado Plantation and The Last New Wave in particular shaped years of my moviegoing.
