#KnowYourRights My local school district announced they will be cooperating with #ICE if they show up at our schools. This morning I emailed the school board asserting my #parentalrights to deny consent for ICE to enter my child's school. You might consider something similar. #Resist
Good morning, OCPS School Board Members: I am writing as a concerned parent and American. The recent news that OCPS intends to cooperate with ICE in their new orders to raid schools is, to say the least, very concerning. Part of your job is to ensure the kids in our communities can receive education in an environment that is safe and conducive to learning. I am concerned that an ICE raid in our schools would present a danger to this ideal and to our kids, and may be extralegal in most scenarios. ICE has no authority or cause to enter any premises without (1) a judicial warrant or (2) consent. As to the consent element, I am hereby asserting my parental rights and denying consent for ICE to enter my child's school. Any allowed entry by ICE personnel to my child's school without a judicial warrant will constitute a violation of my parental rights and expose the District, the School Board, and school personnel to potential state and federal lawsuits.
