So happy to be returning to The Common Press on the 1st to perform some of my poems, I've missed spoken word so much, and amidst the ecology walks and talks it's been difficult to get it in 🦋🐛🙏🏽

Lots of new people here, thank you so much for following my journey hehe, I'm Jazmeen, I'm a trans non binary queer muslim interdisciplinary ecologist (which means I look for the links between everything in ecology), a published / spoken word poet, Advisor, Marine Biologist, writer and bug lover 🪲

Taking a honey bee from the pavement - bees, especially honey bees, use their wing muscles, and vibrate them to warm themselves up so that they can generate energy to fly, or just to keep warm in order to function...this one was buzzing about but slow and falling over - which can also mean it might

I'm back and I have less hair x it's been quite a difficult few weeks tbh, I've been trying to balance work with what's been happening in everything I'm overlapped within...the short answer is I'm still exhausted but some of the weight of societal and global calamity dropped off with the hair 🙏🏽🪲🦋

Last night I was the poet headliner performing alongside other artists (musicians, drag) in Bristol for the Boycott Eurovision gig. What we sought - attention to Eurovisions complicity in platforming Israel and colonialist allies, and raising money for 3 Palestinian families 🤎 an honour 🙏🏽

Hello Pinksky community! In my search for divestment from the horrible metaverse, I've found this platform, and thought I'd enter it with a photo of some prints that were made using writing I've done on queering ecology and bugs (feat. My fav bee species: Blue Carpenter Bumblebee) #pinksky #hello

Spent yesterday at a community garden with many familiar faces, and plenty of new ones too...covered in beautiful, iridescent Rose chafer beetles I was relocating as we weeded and repotted, whilst snapping little pictures of ladybird eggs and being bumped into by bees...I could breathe finally.

It's so peaceful here. I've moved around so much in my life and I've never lived in a room this quiet, with the only loud sounds being the titters and quivers of the birds, and the buzz and excitement of the bugs. Right now, when the world feels like it's on fire in so many ways, I'm so honoured

We out here counting bugs and formulating garden structure plans (I never clear extensively or tear out without knowing what I'm pulling when I garden small) so far lots of red shouldered leaf beetles and white tailed bumblebees

Sun is sunning and brown girl nose is nosing ✨️ yesterday's queering ecology + ecologies of rest [Queering rest writing workshop] went so well and we unearthed so much beauty and perhaps decolonial paths, but it also reminds me to move towards writing and away from facilitation when I'm tired 🙏🏽🦋

I think what made this even more special...was just being present. I am a trans muslim woman, teaching kids in primary school, about bugs and nature and myself. Right now, with everything that's happening, but even before, this feels like something very special.

Just came home from filming something pretty incredible with a group of amazing people at the Museum of Transology. Can't wait to tell you more when the documentary comes out, I think we made some pretty powerful magic in the room together, and I'm so tired but so nourished 🦋🤎🪲✊🏽🏳️‍⚧️

Chironomidae. Non biting midge. Looks like a mosquito. "Whines" like a mosquito...isn't a mosquito...right? Love how adaptive bugs are. These guys don't have wing scales like mosquitoes or mouthparts to drink blood. Came into the room last night and the ANTENNA were immediately noticed by me hehe

Looking up a lot today in this pine forest...we also wrote some things for the young people who come here as groups to learn and play with the land and understand it, and I wrote the usual of course...

Sunday Recuperation from a long week means instead of rambling to you about how Lichen can be a vessel to help us in reimagining ecological structures of relationships, specieism, reality building and mutual aid, i will leave that for later and give you a side on shot of Volcano noticing I'm here x

Sitting in the shadow of this great tree. A big part of reimaging ecology is slowing down or speeding up your perception. A tree moves. Forwards. Backwards. Up. Down. It shakes and trembles but it grows and yearns too. Our movements and patterns are but a blip in its lifespan, and if we were able to

I take great joy from explaining to people how many different types of spiders there are and how individual spiders are...an approach to other organisms on the planet that reflects their individuality instead of the anthropocentric view that ties their immediate worth and understanding to a general

Very cool getting to bring Queer(ing) Ecology...the unbuilding of our realities...reimagining our relationship with ecology, to so many queer scientists and others at @stemlgbtqyou.bsky.social last week! So excited to speak more about this and for there to be more understandings to be built on...
