We took the rejected IDs to the DMV, used those same IDs to purchase a proof of age card, which the bank did accept... I was raving mad by the end. I remember ranting that Americans were surely safer from terrorism now that native born youth, couldn't open a bank account!

They refused to recognise his state issued birth certificate. They refused to accept that he was a high school graduate and made us get a letter from the school explaining "why he wasn't enrolled in school" even though he had his original diploma.

I'm so sorry. I woke this morning with a memory; basically, the first time I had an experience that confirmed the US was on a terrible spiral to hell.
