I do VC @rsv.bsky.social, teach @ UVF Crossroads, and complain here!
That’s pretty rad!

I don't buy that the Trump Admin has anything to do with this productivity surge (as the headline would suggest). Trend was that way anyway for 3/4 sectors. But I am fascinated that a productivity surge has survived. ht to @adamtooze.bsky.social for highlighting this. www.ft.com/content/b72e...

This time-to-liquidity function over the last decade may not seem like much, but if you apply an inflation adjusted impact to IRR calculation to this, the impact on most venture funds is pretty substantial. It's a hard business. Has been for awhile.

5) Go Local: We are going to be valued local community members. Sponsors of the high school volleyball team. Community theatre wrap-party place. Come watch the game place. Book-it on Steroids. Lean into what made you great to begin with.

4) Pillage GenX Wallet: Lean HARD on nostalgia to reinvigorate a customer base who really wants to eat at Pizza Hut if we give them a reason. ET movie promotional glasses? Yep! Checkered table cloths? Tiffany-style lights? Sold! We are going to steal money from everyone 48 and over. 5/7

3) Get physical... that's right, we're gonna build some restaurants. And they're gonna look like Pizza Huts (see post 1). Salad Bars ✅ They're going to be incredibly clean. We're going to add opportunities to "watch the game" with friends or have a quick family dinner. And we'll have this⬇️ 4/7

2) Next, we're going to invest in high quality delivery. Domino's already showed you how... invest in your tech. Invest in a high quality and reliable delivery network. Invest in making sure the investments you made in your pizza quality actually survive the journey to the customer. That's it. 3/7

1) We're gonna fix the pizza. It's not good. This isn't quite as easy as just rolling back a few versions, but that's basically what we're gonna do. We are going to shrink the menu and nail every product on it. Remember this? ⬇️ When you order a pizza from us, it will be great. 2/7

I fully intend to convince someone to give me a crack at turning Pizza Hut around. I'm a 4X CEO, 3X Founder (including a VC Firm), and dedicated Pizza Hut Fan. I KNOW I can do this!

My five point Pizza Hut Turnaround Plan. Please forward this to a PE Firm manager. Re-Skeet to spread the word. 1/7

Crunchbase tells us it's getting slightly harder to secure seed financing over the last year. It's probably even harder than this graph indicates if you take into account some of the capital concentration in fewer funds we've seen.

I can’t tell you what to do, but doubt your new AI Overlords at your own peril. My old lily white ass is already trapped in the matrix I guess. 🤷‍♂️

This evening’s walk was fine too.

In venture capital news... At least according to @crunchbase.bsky.social, Q2 was not awesome for companies seeking VC $$. If you are a Series A/B fund manager, the world is your oyster! If you have raised early-stage money, use that wisely. It's not obvious where your next dollars are coming from.
