I’m overjoyed & honoured to have won the Plaza Prize for Poetry judged by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Natalie Diaz —whose work I adore & admire immensely. To have one’s poems read at all, let alone by one of your poet-heroes & to have them reflect so generously on the poem is a gift beyond measure.

Friends, I wrote a piece on poet Laura Gilpin, who died of glioblastoma in 2006.

She is best known for “The Two-Headed Calf.”

With gratitude to the Poetry Foundation for allowing me to try to restore this remarkable healthcare practitioner/poet’s legacy.
