The reality of our entire space is that there are tons of design-loving incredibly talented, or willing to learn designers out there, with no work, or money.

You happen to work for a profitable design first company that makes an amazing product, but how can an agency convince a client to actually strategize design and build product when there is a 50,000 module version available in the community marketplace for $8.

Wish this news was better, but the trends 25+ years in are scary.

Additionally dev is never coming back. Most juniors will never be able to learn from a proper team. Mid and Seniors who are laid off will be required to settle heavily for their next gig.

Salaries are down at least 33% YOY. Clients won’t commit. New clients can’t differentiate between SOWs. POCs are constantly in flux. Budgets are 20% proper rates, no one can hire amazing talent because clients won’t commit. Kind of a vicious circle.

2024 was rough. 2025 will be rough.
