And if you want to lend your voice, SPEAK OUT. Join JCAC at the community speak out before TK Water’s town hall at 5:30pm Tuesday August 12th on 60 W Ashley Street. Go to city council meetings and SPEAK OUT during public comments!

Jacksonville Deserves Better than having the needs of our community be curbstomped while every elected official uplifts JSO.
August 12, 2025 at 1:15 PM
You’ve never heard of a library brutalizing someone, right? How can you harass the homeless by providing affordable housing? Beautifying our city’s parks can’t get the praise of the MAGA daddies Diamond worships, can it?
August 12, 2025 at 1:15 PM
JSO, who have gained national attention yet again for brutalizing yet another innocent person. Because they could. Because they’re never reprimanded or punished for their actions—instead they get elected officials falling over themselves to reward them with more and more money.
August 12, 2025 at 1:15 PM
Sure, Mayor Donna Deegan and Councilman Rory Diamond are squabbling over who has the right idea of what the budget should be—but they’re both falling over themselves to give more and more money and assets to JSO.
August 12, 2025 at 1:15 PM
Jacksonville Deserves Better than social services that provide for our community being left to flounder because of politician’s ego trips. Jacksonville Deserves a Whole Lot Better than THIS.
August 9, 2025 at 4:27 PM
All this to say--we’re back, guys. Because Jacksonville Deserves Better than petty squabbles over whether almost a billion dollars is too little money to give to brutal cops.

“Ban on taxpayer funding helping people in the country illegally” sure sounds a whole lot like “I’m butthurt that my pet bill 0138 got double-vetoed and so I’m gonna put the city’s tax dollars at a standstill and throw a tantrum about it waah waah” to us!

Jax Deserves Better presents the Councilpeople of the Week! Who’s making the nice list? Who’s been naughty? We’ll give you our take on it!
August 9, 2025 at 4:27 PM
But to call it WOKE? To call giving nearly half of a billion dollar budget to the cops WOKE is WILD work! Not to mention that Councilman Rory Diamond’s issues with the budget are fake issues.

Especially so soon after footage came to light of several JSO officers assaulting a man for committing the crime of… not having headlights on in the middle of the day? To say Deegan’s proposed budget is flawed doesn’t even begin to describe it.

We're joining the call for a boycott of Mambo's Cuban Cafe--because if Raul Arias wants to jeopardize his community, the least we can do is jeopardize his pocketbook. Jacksonville Deserves Better than a councilman who throws fellow immigrants under the bus and then sells their culture.
June 21, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Arias believes the people who make what he sells aren't worth feeding. But their ideas, tax dollars, and food? Delicious!

With his yes vote, Ordinance 2025-0138 passed the council. If it's signed into law by the Mayor, anyone found to help an "alien"--whether it be a meal at a soup kitchen or emergency care at a medical center--will be subject to fines and penalties from local govt.
June 21, 2025 at 5:46 PM
We the citizens of Jacksonville still have a voice in this! Speak out, speak loud, flood the inboxes of Mayor Deegan and all the city councilpeople! Make it known that Jacksonville Deserves Better than having our city be ruled by hate and fearmongering!
June 17, 2025 at 8:00 PM
If Mayor Donna Deegan vetoes this bill, it then goes back to the council--it will have to pass a 2/3rds vote to then become law. It didn’t even get that the first time.
(Do note that councilwoman Ju'Coby Pittman was not present to vote on the bill last Tuesday)
June 17, 2025 at 8:00 PM
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO STOP THIS BILL!
The bill passed city council, but it was a narrow victory. Now it goes to the Mayor's desk, where she has three options:
1 - Sign the bill into law
2 - Not sign the bill, and it goes into law in 30 days (This is the coward’s way out)
3 - Veto the bill
June 17, 2025 at 8:00 PM
Jacksonville Immigrant Rights Alliance has created an email script and a call script to contact the office of Mayor Donna Deegan and demand she not let Jacksonville be ruled by senseless purposeless hatred and fearmongering!

Scared of a lil ol guy approaching his chair and calling security on a peer? Seems Carrico’s a bit too hysterical to be in a position of power! But he'll be President of the Council soon, so get ready for more scaredy cat shenanigans!
Jacksonville Deserves Better than Scaredy Cat Carrico in office!
June 12, 2025 at 4:28 PM
Rumor has it, Carlucci was present to ask some questions about a bill and when he routinely went to inform the committee chair he was leaving, Carrico called the sergeant of arms to remove him. Claimed he felt threatened by the man standing next to him.
