Just your average autistic animation lover. always riding the ragged edge of disaster. (Adult) Marcy Wu is my animated boo. Bi; he/him.
Carl and Lotta both being autistic, but in different ways, is such a refreshing change of pace from cartoons with canon autistic rep only having one such character, and each show with that kind of character portraying autism in the exact same manner. They’re such comfortingly strong friends.

Honestly, Carl being hyperfixated on collecting in general is a major part of why I find him so endearingly relatable. However, I also relate to Lotta being shy and thus having difficulty making friends, as well as feeling more comfortable outside with headphones on.

Considering my first legitimate romantic relationship was with someone who was in the process of coming out as a trans guy, I’m glad my experiences led to me making other people feel good around each other again.

“What about the Walmart gag in Looney Tunes: Back in Action?”

That bit came from a movie BASED ON an animated series, not an animated series it-of itself, so the aforementioned joke doesn’t count.

The second half of my mini-thread confirms I knew that was the case.

I had a very big feeling that was the case, but I wanted to know for sure.

On the one hand, it would have been nice for such an important part of PBS’s history to get a grand farewell.

On the other hand, though, I do have to admire Fred Rogers not wanting to risk scaring his “television neighbors” into thinking they can never see him on their TV again.
