Donald Trump is way less popular than he wants you to believe.

And you are significantly more powerful than he wants you to think.

This is the official spokesperson for the White House, stating that the President hopes to deploy the United States military to occupy every city controlled by the political party that opposes him. Explicitly.
Leavitt: "These are the bad guys that we are picking up in Washington DC every day. The president would love to do this in every Democrat-run city across the country."

No idea if I should believe jobs data now. Seems equally likely that this is a normal adjustment or just a lie to support a fake reality. WaPo helpfully frames the BLS issue — while also somehow immediately reaching the conclusion that readers should consider this info "more accurate." Fun world.

A must-read, must-share piece - clearly deconstructing the shoddy science of the Geiers (who are inexplicably in charge of studies at HHS).

big news on campaign finance reform, if that's your jam (it should be!):

Seattle voters chose to continue their experiment with public campaign financing, renewing DEMOCRACY VOUCHERS for another decade

this is a program that hands residents $100 to give to candidates to try to democratize giving:
Seattle Renews Its Unique Approach to Public Campaign Financing
The democracy vouchers program hands residents $100 to donate to local candidates and it’s credited with broadening civic involvement. Voters on Tuesday extended it by 10 years.

I cannot imagine a way more likely to destroy an advanced economy than making IP rights liable to be set aside at political whim.

R&D, industrial development, technology, you name anything in which people invest, you react to this by taking it elsewhere.

It's easy to forget, so we have to keep saying it:

This kind of rank corruption would be a multi-month scandal and would lead to calls for impeachment had any president other than Trump attempted it.

He's corrupt and unfit to lead.
NEW: A biotech company donated $5M to attend a March 1 dinner with Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

The company's co-owner brought a flier opposing a pending change limiting Medicare $ for his products.

The next day, Trump posted the flier on Truth Social.

The next month, the Medicare change was tabled.

A terrific article that really, fully addresses my concerns with government. I have tried to shy away from discussing politics publicly but I think I've reached a tipping point. I need to do my part, whatever that part is. Not tolerating this authoritarianist world for my future family.
In firing government statisticians and ordering Texas Republicans to redraw maps so he wins 5 new red seats, Donald Trump shows that loyalty to him is now the only thing that matters. The full MAGA-fication of the GOP is complete. Democracy is dying www.gelliottmorris.com/p/trump-make...
