I went to a special event at fountains abbey last night for a rare chance to see it after dark. It was awesome. I also stood a lot and queued 40 mins for a (admittedly next level) cheese toastie and my chronically fatigued flesh cannot do that without consequences. With it though.
Helios at Fountains. A huge great fuck off glowing model of the Sun, suspended in the nave of a ruined Abbey. At night. Yeah, if it looks familiar, it was in The Witcher. Not the sun bit, the Abbey. Bit of astrophotography done from one of the ruined walls of the Abbey, looking off towards the water gardens further round the valley. Someone else was wandering around with a torch too but it still worked.

Helios at Fountains Abbey
Fountains Abbey ruins, at night. The ruins are floodlit inside and through the arch of big nave window you see the Helios sculpture suspended inside, a huge glowing orb representing the sun. Above the Abbey, a few stars can be made out in the night sky

Shadow keeps trying to steal my lace thread so I threw him some offcut stuff. It landed on his head and there was much fun kitty break dancing as he tried to get it off. Toothless was right there, watching so I threw some to her too and this happened.

Really puzzled over this one. Undid section after section trying to get it right. Finally got to the end, feeling good about it. Clipped off the bobbins, tied it off, then found the mistake I'd missed. Godsdammit.

Didn't know this was our, and tend to buy my books in digital and audio formats these days but ITS SO PRETTY AND ITS THE ABERDEEN ONE! So I boughts it.
The hardback cover of Ben Aaronovitch's Stone & Sky, latest in his Rivers Of London series. The cover is blue with a scale pattern embossing. A hand-drawn style map of the Aberdeenshire coast is the back ground, with the title overlaid in a gold wavy font. It's very pretty.
